Business and Enterprise

 Hey Bloggers

We have been doing Business and Enterprise this term for our kete. We made a Cookie in a Jar.  We had to get into groups of four and then make a company idea and then make a logo. Then get the items we need to  make all of our products. We just had our market day which was when we sold all of our products. I learnt how to make a budget we had a $20 dollar budget at the start we wanted to make bath bombs and lip-scrub and we looked at making soap but then we realised that doing that would be quite expensive so we decided to do something that costed less. The decisions that we made as a group were really important like when we changed our topic to a cheaper one that was a big decision and who was going to make jars. I think that we were pretty successful we worked together well as a group we made 16 jars in the time that we were given and sold 14 jars so all of them but 2 and we each had tasks that we had to do. I think that I upheld that CARR values because I helped sell the jars that we made. I also think that I promoted the business well.

Making Hockey Pokey

Hey Bloggers

Aim: To make hokey pokey using sugar golden syrup and baking soda.

When using the sugar and golden syrup combine what the baking soda it froths and makes carbon dioxide gas That is why the Hokey pokey has bubbles.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Materials -

1. 2 tablespoons Golden Syrup

2. 4 tablespoons sugar

3.1 Heaped teaspoon of baking soda

4. Pot

5. Tablespoon and teaspoon

6. Bunsen burner

7. Grease Proof paper

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Method -

1. Put 4 tablespoons of sugar and 2 tablespoons of golden syrup in a saucepan and melt.

2. Bring to the boil and simmer gently for five minutes

3. Add baking soda and stir vigorously

4. Put the Hokey pokey on a piece of grease proof paper to cool

The more the sugar syrup is cooked the browner it becomes. If is left cooking for a bit to long your Hokey Pokey becomes burnt.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Explanation

1. Why do we stir it? So you don't get a chunk that tastes like baking soda so it isn't tasting bad

2. Explain why the hokey pokey rises and has bubbles?- It has bubbles because of the Carbon dioxide

3. What gas is made by the baking soda? - Carbon Dioxide

Diary Of The Wild Boy

 Hey guys

I am going to be telling you about something that I read it is called diary of The Wild Boy I can't wait to share it to you it was a very interesting story

Brando walked around the whole coastline of New Zealand so that he would be the first. He brought his pack with him full of stuff and he brought a tent with him. It took him 24 months to cross the whole coastline of New Zealand. He ate pig a runt in fact. He had a big challenge and that was climbing a cliff he was tired once he was going up it and when he was halfway up the sky wen't dark and it started to rain he felt like giving up but then he remembered that if he wen't back he would need to walk so he found a way to set up his tent on the cliff and stayed the night and started again in the morning. The favourite part of his walk was swimming with the dolphins and running with a wild pack of horses he thought that it was magical that he got to do that. In Canterbury Brando found a sheep that was tired and worn out so he made a leash with his rope feed her some grass named her bettie and every now and then she would get a fright and take off Then he brought her to a paddock with sheep and dropped her off. The trip taught him to stay positive.

  • -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Method

  • Take a test tube rack with 1 boiling tube at each end of the rack and 4 test tubes.

  • Half Fill the boiling tube at one end with Sodium Hydroxide.

  • Half fill the boiling tube at the other end with Hydrochloric acid.

  • Fill each test tube with 5 drops of Universal indicator.

  • Using the pipettes you will add drops of the acid or alkaline to the test tubes to make colours. DO NOT MIX UP THE PIPETTES

Should We Go Mars?

 Hey Guys

Today I am going to be showing you my writing about if we should go and live In Mars and my writing is about why we shouldn't go instead of why we should go to Mars because I think that it is a bad idea to go to Mars and I have lots of good points that make me never wan't to go to Mars. But if you still wan't to go to Mars after this then I would be surprised.

Here is My writing

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why We Shouldn't Go To Mars

I think that we should not live on Mars. Because of the amount of carbon dioxide in the air. How would you get food? You would need enough for 26 months! And water as well. And also it will be super hard to grow plants for food. These are my points that I am going to be telling you about. So continue reading and you will see the points.

There is 95.3% of carbon dioxide on Mars so being out in the air for 2 minutes will take all of the carbon dioxide from your blood cells. That means in the two minutes time you will be dead so if you wanted to go outside you would need to be wearing a spacesuit.  Your shelter would need to have airlock doors so no carbon dioxide could get inside of the shelter.

You need food to survive. So how would you get the food? One person will need about 5 tons of food to last 26 months on mars and plants can’t grow there. First of all the plants will die because of all the carbon dioxide in the air and the plants would need water and there is only a little bit of water flow under all the ice caps. Otherwise just for two people you would need to bring on the rocket 10 tons of food just for two people. And don’t forget about the water you would need to bring enough water for 26 months and water is really heavy and you would need water to even try growing plants.

Dust Storms happen a lot on Mars. Because the whole planet is a big desert and their dust storms can last for 2 months. The dust storm can cover the whole planet so no way to escape fr that if it is covering the whole planet. So then  you would probably have to stay inside throughout the whole storm and that could be for 2 months.

The temperature is really cold on Mars so you would need to have your shelter really warm. Also how would you get electricity to heat the shelter? It would be hard to get electricity, a solution to that is if you used solar panels. But  the dust storm would make it hard to get power in the middle of the storm.  But the temperature can be -125 to -193 and that is super cold. I wouldn’t want to be in that temperature. And because of the freezing temperatures most of the water (if there was any) would freeze straight away so you would need to keep your water warm so it wouldn’t freeze.

Overall it is a bad idea to go and live on  Mars because food would be hard to bring and it is almost impossible to grow food on planet Mars.  Water is really heavy and also hard to bring over to Mars and there is barely any water on the planet, only a little bit of water flow. And  Mars can get super cold also. Mars has lots of dust storms and they can last up to 2 months so I think people shouldn’t live on Mars.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope you liked my writing and considered that going to Mars is a bad idea

Bye Guys
